Scott Memorial Hospital wants your birthing experience to be one of the most memorable events in your life. When choosing to give birth at the Everitt Women’s Pavilion, you can expect a compassionate, caring staff, State-of-the-art medical technology, and the latest treatment techniques. We feel we have something very special at the Everitt Women’s Pavilion, and we hope you will too.
The Everitt Women’s Pavilion has a centralized design that is better able to handle multiple delivery situations. The expansion in 1994 included three labor/delivery/recovery/postpartum rooms (LDRP). New parents can rest easy knowing that our newborn nursery is located next to the nurses’ station for enhanced security. There is also a gynecology surgical recovery area and a comfortable and conveniently located waiting area. Women’s services such as mammography and ultrasound are also located within the Everitt Women’s Pavilion.
Lactation Counseling
For a mothers struggling with breastfeeding, an appoitnment with our Lactation Counselor can make all the difference. his specialized training, Tara will be an invaluable asset to breastfeeding mothers by reassuring them when breastfeeding is going well, and by providing information and support to help her prevent and manage common concerns including risk factors, positioning, milk supply, and breastfeeding in challenging situations.
Prepared Childbirth Classes
Expectant parents can be a little nervous as the big day approaches but at Scott Memorial we want to set your mind at ease and answer all of your questions before the big day.
Topics Covered During Class
- Hospital Orientation: Admission Procedure and Items needed for Hospital Stay
- Prenatal Care: Vitamins, Nutrition, Lifestyle Consideration
- Labor: Terminology, Cesarean Section vs. Vaginal Deliveries
- Post Partum: Care of mother
- Baby Care: Post Delivery Care, Feeding, Car Seat Safety
During these two day classes, information on prenatal care, labor and delivery, baby safety and much more will be discussed. Tours of the delivery and post partum rooms will be offered. This class is FREE for patients delivering at SMH. There will be a $35 charge for those who are planning a delivery at another facility. All mothers are encouraged to bring their primary support person with them to the class. To schedule your class call(812)752-8528. All classes will be held in the SMH Conference Center from 5:30pm to 6:30pm.
