Scott Memorial Hospital Names Michael Everett CEO
July 31, 2013
Scottsburg, Ind. – Scott Memorial Hospital (SMH) announced today that Michael Everett has been appointed its new chief executive officer (CEO), effective August 1, 2013. Everett will replace Jerry Dooley, interim CEO who has served at SMH since January, when the hospital became part of the Regional Health Network of Kentucky and Southern Indiana, a joint venture of Norton Healthcare and LifePoint Hospitals®.
“Mike Everett is a star within our Company who has a deep understanding of healthcare administration and leadership,” said Scott Raplee, president of LifePoint Hospitals’ Central Group, of which Scott Memorial Hospital is a part. “He has demonstrated success growing services lines and building physician relationships, and I am confident he is the best candidate to lead Scott Memorial into the future.”
Everett comes to SMH from Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital (LCRH) in Somerset, Ky. – another LifePoint facility – where he served as assistant administrator (2011-2013) and administrative director of the Lake Cumberland Surgery Center, LP (2010-2013), and previously as director of materials management (2007-2011). During his tenure at LCRH, he was an asset to the construction of the hospital’s Wellness Park that was created for hospital employees and community members and opened in 2012. He also expanded two core service lines at the hospital – oncology and sleep lab - and developed strong physician relationships throughout the community.
“Mike has a proven track record of mobilizing his team to accomplish great things for the betterment of the community,” said Randy Hancock, Chairman of the Scott Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees. “He not only has strong operations experience, but is passionate about providing high quality care and fostering the growth of his employees. I am eager to see where he leads SMH in the future.”
Prior to his time at LCRH, Everett worked as director of materials management (2005-2007) for Memorial Medical Center of Las Cruces, N.M. - a LifePoint hospital - and as director of materials management (2001-2005) for Medical Center of Southern Indiana in Charlestown. He began his career at Allied Central Distributing in Louisville, Ky., where he served as purchasing manager (1997-2001).
Everett earned his B.S. and M.P.A. in health care management from Grand Canyon University. He is a member of the Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management, the Certified Materials & Resource Professionals, and the American Hospital Association. Everett also is a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, for which he served from 1982-1989.
Everett and his family – wife, Mary, and kids Seth (11), Samuel (10) and Sarah (9) - look forward to moving to Scottsburg and returning to Scott County, where they previously lived from 2002-2005.
