Hospital team members are offered many opportunities for training such as this visit by PHiL, the Phi Air Medical Intensive Learning METI-Man made by Medical Education Technologies, Inc.

He is the educational tool of Dove Flight, a service of the PHI Air Medical Ambulance. PHiL is a full tissue simulator that displays a complex combination of body functions including cardiovascular, pulmonary, metabolic and neurological.

Pre-Med Scholarships
The Scott Memorial Hospital Medical Staff has set a goal to provide financial assistance to residents of Scott County whose career goal is to become a physician.

Classes/Support Groups

Cardiac Rehabilitation Classes

A series of classes offering coordinated instruction and exercise for patients recovering from heart attack, bypass surgery, or other related cardiac incident or procedures. Certified by the AACVPR. Rebecca Roth, RN.C, has national Certification as a Cardiovascular Nurse from the ANCC.
Participation requires a physician’s order.

Diabetic Education Night            
Free event that is taught by physicians, pharmacist, and diabetic educators on topics such as diet, exercise, foot care, management, and medications.

Diabetic Diet Class
Free monthly class that teaches an in depth look at the diabetic diet. Class is taught by Registered Dietician, Andrea Elgin. Classes will be the second Tuesday of every month at 2:00pm. Registration is required.

Parkinson Support Group
Free support group for anyone with the disease or wanting more information about caring for someone with the disease.

Safe Sitter
SMH nurses offer the internationally recognized “Safe Sitter” training program. The class is offered yearly.

Tobacco Cessation
Free Cooper Clayton method to stop smoking classes are taught at SMH.

Pre-Baby Visit
Expectant parents can be a little nervous as the big day approaches but at Scott Memorial we want to set your mind at ease and answer all of your questions before the big day. The pre-baby visit focuses on delivery, and post-partum education along with a tour, and pre-registering.
