Making Memories Work

Estates and tax-deductible donations to non-profit organizations are a good way to make the memory of a loved one work for a better community. Scott County residents have a long history of donations directed to local community service organizations.

A generous donation from the estate of Allen and Mildred Everitt helped the hospital expand the Obstetrics Department into a Women’s Health Center.

The photo above shows Ken and Mildred Mumford, center, with WI & Mabelle Brunton. Mumfords were long-time friends with Maebelle and W.I. Brunton, and assisted with the estate when the Brunton's daughter, Martha Jane Brunton Fleener, passed away.

The Scott Memorial Hospital Guild was one of the recipients of money from the estate. A total of $196,000 is split between two separate funds. The first fund for $112,000 is set up as a trust to finance medical scholarships. An additional $84,000 was given to the Guild for the benefit of the hospital.
