Kelly Ledbetter recognized for demonstrating compassion and unwavering commitment to helping others
Scott Memorial Health recently announced that Kelly Ledbetter has been recognized as the facility’s 2023 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of Lifepoint Health’s facilities who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.
The Mercy Award is an annual recognition program that honors the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, Lifepoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a Lifepoint employee can receive.
“At Scott Memorial, we share Lifepoint’s commitment to making communities healthier, and we recognize this is supported by the good work and service of our employees on and off the job,” said Martin Padgett, CEO of Scott Memorial. “We are extremely proud to recognize Kelly for her efforts on behalf of our patients and our community. She goes above and beyond each and every day to ensure that every person she encounters receives the highest level of care and compassion.”
Kelly began her career at Scott 22 years ago as the Director of Accounting and remains in that position today where she oversees the important role of accounts payable and payroll. Kelly is described by her coworkers as the first to step up when a volunteer is needed and is always happy to assist others.
Kelly volunteers in the community she calls home. She is active in her church, serves on several committees and volunteers at Henryville Elementary where she reads to and helps children learn in the “3-2-1 Reading Program.” One of her passions is organizing fund raising events including collecting food items for the County Community Clearing House food pantry, organizing a fund raiser for CRADLE Pregnancy Resource Center and coordinating a benefit for a co-worker whose husband is suffering from cancer.
While Kelly does not provide direct patient care, she serves as a support for those who do. Kelly works hard to ensure funds are made available for patient care items. She works closely with all areas of the hospital to help them meet budgetary and productivity goals to provide patients with a safe environment.
Kelly Ledbetter is a living example of a team member who lives the mission, vision, values, and guiding principles of our organization.
Each facility winner, including Kelly, will be considered for Lifepoint’s 2023 companywide Mercy Award. The companywide winner will be announced this summer and honored during a ceremony in Nashville, Tenn., in August.
